Our 25th anniversary

2019 is a landmark year for Cinderella Support Services as we celebrate 25 years in business. Over the last quarter of a century, we’ve worked with countless customers, first in our hometown of Sheffield and steadily growing to cover multiple sectors across the UK. From the humble beginnings of Jason Machin – now CEO – starting a small carpet cleaning initiative as a side-line to his milk round, to its current position as a sector leader with more than 100 employees, our company continues to flourish.


Where did it all start?

Jason explains,

“I originally learned to carpet clean during my time as an apprentice at Birmingham Football Club, where I helped the landlord out from time to time. Cinderella really began when, at 21, my football career took a blow as a result of an injury. I had to look at other ways to make a living and took a milk-round.

I had the idea of buying a carpet cleaning machine. I put the machine on the back of my milk float and started to hand flyers out to the customers I delivered milk to, and gained my first carpet cleaning customers.”

Jason ran the business from his home for three years before he took on his first employee. He almost sold the business when he was offered another football contract in America, but instead took the smart decision to let his employee keep things running. Fortuitous, as Jason’s football career was again cut short through injury. In 1996 at the age of 25, Jason returned to the UK, bought a unit in Attercliffe and the rest, as they say, is history.


How the business has grown

1994 – Jason’s carpet cleaning idea starts from his milk float

1996 – Cinderella becomes the main focus and the first unit in Attercliffe is secured


  • 200 customers for carpet cleaning UK-wide, three employees
  • Commercial cleaning for city centre flats and apartments and
  • Window cleaning division begins
  • Cinderella wins its first University contract in Sheffield, which continues to this day
  • 2006 – First cherry picker 31m truck is bought

2009 – Five cherry pickers secured


  • 100+ employees
  • 38-strong vehicle fleet


Where we are now

We’re very proud of the service offering we have today. We now have a windows, grounds, cleaning and reactive maintenance division and are the preferred supplier to numerous blue chip and government organisations. Our vehicle fleet is 38-strong with our highly-skilled teams on the ground providing exceptional service. We use state-of-the-art equipment across all of our divisions that we’re confident are the best in the business.


What does the future hold?

Cinderella continues to go from strength to strength with recently appointed Managing Director, Phil Goleby, now at the helm. Phil said,
